Why we made this

The desk is the passenger seat.

The mobile artist's day looks nothing like a salon's. No chair turn, no walk-ins, no front desk to absorb the friction. So the tooling has to start somewhere else — in a car, between two driveways, with a phone in one hand and a coffee in the other.

  1. 01The whole tool fits behind a windshield, not a counter.
  2. 02Drive distance, zones, and travel fees are first-class — not a Notes-app workaround.
  3. 03Every appointment carries the formula on its back: brand, DHA %, oz, lot.
  4. 04Reminders fire on the rinse window you set, not on a generic 24-hour timer.
  5. 05A bridal party settles once: one address, one travel fee, per-guest waivers.
  6. 06Payments close at the door — tap-to-pay on the phone you already have.

The platform

Everything in one tab.

Nine tools, one fluent system — built around how you actually work, not how a generic booking app thinks you should.

Booking that doesn't text you back

Customers self-serve through your booking link. Your calendar fills itself, day by day — no more thumb-typing slot times at midnight.

Deposits at the click

Stripe Connect holds the appointment with a deposit at booking. No platform middleman. Direct payouts to your bank.

Tap-to-pay on arrival

Charge the balance and tip from your phone the moment you finish — Stripe Terminal, no card reader to lug.

SMS + email, fully automated

Confirmations, 24-hour reminders, reschedule notes, after-care. Replies thread back to you. No CRM to wire up.

Travel zones

Concentric drive radii with per-zone fees and minimums. Customers pay the right travel fee at booking — no back-and-forth quotes.

A formula card for every visit

Brand, DHA %, base undertone, oz applied, lot number — captured per appointment. A hairstylist's color card, built for sunless.

Pre-tan prep + after-care, on a timer

Branded prep checklist fires 24 hours out. Rinse-window reminders fire at the artist-set hour. Tap-to-confirm on both.

Bridal + group at one address

Bridal package locks engagement, trial, and wedding dates at once. Group bookings split per-guest waivers and price, one travel fee.

Your booking page, your domain

Point book.yourbrand.com at your booking page in a few clicks — free, with auto-SSL. Most appointment apps make you stay on theirs; we hand you the URL your clients already type into Instagram bios.

Confirmations from your address

Booking confirmations + reminders land in your client's inbox FROM noreply@book.yourbrand.com — not from goldenhour. Same single Settings page wires up your routing AND your mail; we handle the SPF and DKIM records.

You own your client list

Export anytime. We don't sit between you and your customers — we just handle the operations behind the door.

Travel zones

Drive distance, priced in at booking.

Set concentric service zones once. Each gets its own travel fee and minimum booking value. Customers see the right number at checkout — you stop quoting drive time over DM.

  • Concentric radii — 8, 15, 25 miles, your call
  • Per-zone flat fee or per-mile rate
  • Minimum booking value to unlock the far ring
  • Auto-applied from the client's zip at checkout

Pre-tan + after-care

The right message, the right hour.

Prep instructions fire 24 hours out. Rinse-window reminders fire at your set hour — rapid 4-hour, classic 8-hour, your call. Each one tap-to-confirm, so you know they're ready when you pull up.

  • Branded prep checklist, sent automatically
  • Artist-set rinse window per service tier
  • Tap-to-confirm — see prep status before you drive
  • Aftercare cadence triggers the rebook prompt

Stripe Terminal, in your pocket

Charge the balance before you pack up.

The deposit was taken at booking. The balance and tip clear from your phone in seconds. No clunky reader, no “I'll Venmo you tonight” — payouts land directly in your bank.

  • Tap-to-pay on iPhone — no extra hardware
  • Tip prompt with smart suggested amounts
  • Stripe rates only — no platform commission
  • Daily payout to the bank account you choose

What we changed

Most booking software assumes the wrong job.

Here's what shifts when the receptionist disappears, the chair becomes a folding table, and the calendar is a route.

  1. Most software assumes a front desk.

    We assume a passenger seat.

  2. Most software treats the drive like an inconvenience.

We treat the drive like part of the service.

  3. Most software adds deposits as a policy setting.

We start every booking with one held.

  4. Most software forgets which solution went on which client.

We never let that detail leave the appointment.

  5. Most software sends a generic 24-hour ping.

We send the right message at the right hour — prep tonight, rinse at four.

  6. Most software stitches a bridal party as five back-to-back singles.

We treat it as one address, one fee, one shared moment.

  7. Most software parks your clients on a subdomain of theirs.

We hand you the keys to book.yourbrand.com — free, with auto-SSL.

  8. Most software signs your confirmation mail from its own domain.

We send from noreply@book.yourbrand.com — SPF, DKIM, and trust on tap.

  9. Most software charges commission on top of card fees.

We charge nothing on top — Stripe rates, full stop.

  10. Most software was built for someone who works at a desk.

We were built for the artist who drives to the door.

Built for solo artists

One person. One car. One craft.

goldenhour assumes you're solo, mobile, and stretched thin. Setup is minutes, not days. Your booking link works the moment you add your first service — and the rest of the system grows around the way you already work.

Common questions

Before you sign up.

I'm not in spray tan — is this for me?

Yes. The plumbing is general — bookings, deposits, SMS, payments, reports — but the templates are tuned. Pick hair, lash, brow, nails, massage, esti, or bridal makeup at signup and the intake forms, after-care messages, and rebook cadence shift to match. Spray tan just happens to be where the gap was widest, so we started there.

What hardware do I actually need?

Your iPhone. That's it. Tap-to-pay clears balances and tips at the door — no card reader, no separate terminal device. Older phones still work; you just pair an external Stripe Reader on the rare occasion you want one.

What's the real cost?

A flat monthly subscription, plus Stripe's standard rates (2.9% + 30¢ online, 2.7% + 5¢ in-person). No platform commission, no per-booking fee, no transaction skim. Free for the first two weeks and no credit card required to start.

Do I keep my clients if I leave?

They were never ours. Export the full list to CSV any time — phone, email, history, notes. We're the operations layer; we don't sit between you and your customers.

What about no-shows?

The deposit at booking already does most of the work. On top of that, you set the cancellation window (12, 24, or 48 hours), and the deposit is retained automatically when someone cancels inside it. You don't have to chase that conversation.

I'm coming from another tool — does it transfer?

Bring your client list as a CSV and you're set in an hour. Run two systems side-by-side during the changeover if you'd rather. Your booking link goes live the moment your first service is added — no formal migration project.
